About the Artwork
In Taurino, Ramírez reinterprets one of the most emblematic symbols of Hispanic culture: the bull and the bullring. The composition combines two winged bulls in vibrant purples and blues, circling above a golden-red arena that becomes a cosmic mandala. The green background, scattered with stars and geometric patterns, evokes festivity, spirituality, and ritual, while the contrast between violence and celebration highlights the duality inherent in the taurine tradition. This work functions as both homage and critique, oscillating between cultural pride and existential questioning.
