About the Artwork
In S.T 07, Ruiz returns to portraiture with a delicate yet expressive watercolor. The subject, captured in shades of deep indigo and subtle earthy tones, reflects both fragility and strength. The direct gaze and the interplay of light and washes of pigment create a psychological intensity, while the unfinished background suggests an openness, a state of becoming rather than conclusion. The work embodies Ruiz’s interest in the human figure not only as image but as emotional presence.
